I recently visited Sea Island in Georgia, where Exclusive Resorts has 13 exceptional homes.

Established in 1928, Sea Island is the only resort in the world to have received four Forbes Five-star awards for 13 consecutive years. It was also the only U.S. resort to host the G-8 Summit of world leaders.

Located on the coast in southeast Georgia, the Sea Island resort features five miles of private beach and a broad range of activities including a Beach Club, world class Spa and Fitness facility, three championship golf courses and a yacht club, shooting school and outdoor wildlife programs. There is plenty to do for all of the family.

The Cloister

The Cloister is the main hotel building at the Sea Island Resort and has a wonderful old world feel of the South. It is surrounded by a river with views over the wetlands and the restaurants include The River Bar – casual with a French European flair, Tavola which combines a vibrant Italian experience with Southern charm and The Georgian Room and Lounge for a more formal experience.

The Beach Club

With five miles of private beach along the Atlantic Ocean three swimming pools, water slides and plenty of activities including kayaking, sailing, and swimming. The Beach Club at Sea Island is fantastic for a leisurely afternoon by the pool or retreating in your cabana or a more active day.

Spa & Fitness Center

In an expansive 65,000 square-foot facility, The Spa at Sea Island was named one of the “World’s 30 Most Luxurious Spas” by Forbes Travel Guide. The fitness center is extensive and the Spa offers a wide array of curated treatments for relaxation, regeneration or invigoration. Including aromatherapy, body treatments, detox therapies, reflexology and nutritional counselling. In addition to the fitness center there is indoor and outdoor pools, a w ater atrium featuring a hydrotherapy pool and cascading waterfall sauna and steam rooms.

The Lodge & Golf

The Lodge is located on St. Simons Island surrounded by water and lush trees in a secluded setting. The Lodge has hotel accommodation and is the main golf facility with access to three PGA Courses. The building exemplifies the tradition of golf and even the locker rooms have the relaxed atmosphere and charm of a club where it feels like time has almost stood still.

I played both the Seaside and Plantation Courses during my stay. Originally developed in 1929 the Seaside course was entirely redesigned by Tom Fazio by combining two nine-hole courses.  It is an ocean-side links course that combines manicured fairways and greens with sweeping dunes and native grasses and is routinely ranked among the top 100 courses in the United States.

The new Plantation Course was recently reopened after an extensive by Davis and Mark Love of Love, where they had the opportunity to transform the course that they grew up playing. It combines the plantation feel and trees with some fantastic views of the ocean and the greens are incredibly tricky, surrounded by some extensive sand traps. The Seaside and Plantation courses are home of the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic, event hosted by Sea Island touring professional Davis Love III

There is also a brand new state-of-the-art Golf Performance Center, which is a 17,000 sq ft facility and offers some of the best golf instruction in the world.

In addition there are plenty of other outdoor activities that include kayaking and watersports, shooting, fishing, sailing and tennis, as well as a wildlife center.

We have 13 Exclusive Resorts homes at Sea Island, all of which are 3,700 sq ft with 4 bedrooms and an outdoor spa-pool.

We also have a fantastic Concierge and Housekeeping team that will make sure you are incredibly well looked after.

I would highly recommend a visit. It’s a beautiful location and relaxing environment with plenty of things to do for the entire family.
